How A2Z Edit works

A2Z Edit is a free toolkit at a2zedit.com. I built it so everyday image, PDF, OCR, QR, and link jobs can happen in a browser tab without creating an account. This page is the plain-language version of how that works — including the limits — so you can decide whether a tool is the right one.

Who writes this

I am Waleed Sheeraz. I operate A2Z Edit as an independent product, not as a company, agency, or marketplace of anonymous “AI writers.” Tool pages, guides, and this explanation are edited by me. If a page is a dedicated converter (JPG to PNG, and so on), the job is intentionally narrow so the steps stay honest.

What “in your browser” means

For image, PDF, OCR, and QR tools, the file you pick is read by JavaScript in this tab. Libraries such as Canvas, pdf.js, pdf-lib, and WebAssembly engines (Tesseract for OCR, a segmentation model for background removal, ffmpeg.wasm for unpublished video experiments) run on your device. Closing the tab drops the in-memory copy. I do not get an inbox of your passports.

Those engines are large. The first visit may download a model into Cache Storage so the next visit is faster. That download is the engine, not your document. A slow first OCR or background-removal run on a phone is normal.

What does leave your device

• Temporary file shares — the file is uploaded so other people can download the link (about 4.5 MB on the current path). Production uses Backblaze B2 when configured. Links expire or you can Forget them in My Links.
• Link redirects — we store the destination URL and wait settings, not your PDFs.
• Ask PDF — when AI keys are configured, excerpts and your question may go to a model provider. Skip confidential files.
• Analytics — Google Analytics loads after a click or keypress (not on idle scroll). If ads are enabled later, Google AdSense may set advertising cookies as described in the Privacy Policy.

Civil ID PDF Maker is a client-side layout tool (front/back photos to a PDF). Treat ID scans like any other sensitive file: do not share them through Temporary File Share unless you accept an upload.

Why each tool has its own URL

Hubs such as Image Tools and PDF Tools are indexes. They do not embed ten tools in tabs. A page that says “JPG to PNG” only does that conversion so the instructions, accept list, and preview match the heading. That is a usability choice, not a doorway trick: neighboring pairs are one click away on the converter hub, and each page says when you should pick a different format.

English and Arabic OCR are separate for the same reason. The language pack is part of the job. A single “detect everything” page would hide that cost and ship the wrong model for mixed ID cards.

How-tos vs tool chrome

Each published tool has a short “about” section and steps next to the panel. Longer explanation lives in Guides — when to use a format, when automatic background removal fails, why a black box is not PDF redaction, how OCR actually guesses letters. Guides are static articles. They do not run the tool JavaScript.

I do not scrape other sites for these articles, and I do not publish “synonym” pages that only swap a keyword. Comparison guides (JPG vs PNG, Arabic vs English OCR) exist because people ask those questions, not to manufacture extra URLs. Short convert-pair how-tos may still exist as helper pages; they are noindex so they do not look like a doorway mill. Unpublished prototypes (including any YouTube downloader experiments) return 404 and are not part of the public product.

What the tools are not

• Not a cloud DAM, not signed-in storage, not a design suite.
• Not a substitute for a print RIP, a calibrated color pipeline, or a professional clipping path.
• Not legal or medical advice. Redaction and OCR help you prepare files; you still proofread.
• Video trim/compress pages are unpublished while that stack is rebuilt.

Editorial standards

• Describe the real privacy model, including shares and Ask PDF.
• Say when a tool is the wrong choice.
• Keep support on Contact — the address is not repeated in every footer so inboxes stay usable.
• Usage rules: Terms of Service.

If something on a page is wrong or a tool failed on a specific file type, write in with the URL and browser. I read those messages and fix the product and the prose when they diverge.
