Split a PDF into separate files by page ranges.
About this tool
Turn one PDF into several files (for example each page, or ranges you type). Different from Extract (one new file with a range) and Remove (delete pages from the file you keep).
Use split when an email cap or a portal wants parts, not the whole binder. Rotate sideways scans first so each piece is upright.
Processing uses pdf-lib in the browser. Encrypted PDFs need to be unlocked first. Compress pieces if they are still huge scans.
Break large PDFs into smaller files for sharing, emailing, or archiving. Choose pages or ranges with A2Z Edit’s free Split PDF tool and download each part without uploading the original to a server for processing.
Common uses include separating a multi-invoice packet, pulling one chapter from a handbook, or splitting a long scan into sections your team can review in parallel. Keep the original intact while you generate the pieces you need.
If you only need a contiguous subset as one new file, Extract PDF Pages may be faster. To delete blanks instead of exporting ranges, use Remove PDF Pages. Merge PDF can recombine parts later.
