About this tool
Compress images before uploading to websites or messaging apps. Compression keeps pixel dimensions and throws away bytes — unlike Resize, which changes width and height.
If a form publishes a kilobyte cap, aim at that target. PNG screenshots of text compress poorly as JPEG; shrink dimensions first or convert only if you accept softer type. Do not repeatedly re-save a JPEG from a JPEG — start from the best original you have.
Processing stays in your browser. Strip metadata on the copy you publish if GPS tags should not travel with the smaller file.
