How to remove sensitive info from a PDF

  1. Open Redact PDF and mark every sensitive region.
  2. Download the redacted file.
  3. Run Remove PDF Metadata on that result.
  4. Skim for headers, footers, and attachments you forgot.
  5. Share only the cleaned copy.

Why it matters

Visual cover-ups without real redaction—and leftover metadata—are common failure modes.

Tips

  • Blur is not the PDF tool—redact instead.
  • Remove whole pages when an appendix should not ship at all.
  • Keep an unredacted original in a secure place.
