What is PDF metadata?

PDF metadata is hidden document info—title, author, producer, dates—not the text you see on the page.
Use PDF Metadata on A2Z Edit to inspect those fields before a file leaves your team.
Steps
- Open PDF Metadata on A2Z Edit.
- Upload a sample PDF from your usual export tool.
- Read the author, title, and producer fields.
- Decide whether any values should stay private.
- Strip them with Remove PDF Metadata when needed.

Knowing what metadata is stops you from confusing it with on-page content or redaction.
Tips
- Exports from office suites often fill Author automatically.
- Metadata cleanup does not black out Social Security numbers on the page.
- Keep an internal archival copy if you still need provenance.
Author fields leak
Title and Author often come from Word on a home PC. View PDF Metadata, then strip on a copy before a public send. This is separate from EXIF on photos.
