Photos may include GPS; PDFs may include author names.

How to remove metadata before sharing

  1. Identify whether you are sharing images, PDFs, or both.
  2. For photos, open Remove Image Metadata and clean each image.
  3. For PDFs, open Remove PDF Metadata.
  4. Optionally inspect with the metadata viewers first.
  5. Share only the cleaned outputs.

Why it matters

Metadata leaks are invisible in a normal preview—but easy to read in properties.

Tips

  • Cleaning metadata does not redact faces or account numbers on the page.
  • Batch your files the day you send them so later edits do not reintroduce tags.
  • Compress afterward if needed for email.
